Off-page SEO

Authority isn’t bought. It’s earned.

Off-page SEO is everything that happens beyond your site: press mentions, citations, brand signals, and links that tell Google your site is worth trusting. I do the real version. Outreach, relationships, and contributed work. No PBNs, no paid links, no sketchy directories.

What’s included

The off-page work that actually moves rankings.

Off-page SEO is more than backlinks. It’s the entire ecosystem of signals that tells Google your business is real, trusted, and worth recommending. Here’s what I work on.

Backlink audit

Find toxic links that are hurting you. Disavow what needs disavowing.

Link prospecting

Find genuinely relevant targets worth pursuing, not random scrapes.

Outreach & pitching

Personal emails written by hand, not blast templates. Higher response rates.

Anchor text strategy

Natural variation that doesn’t trip over-optimization filters.

Brand mention monitoring

Find unlinked mentions and turn them into citations and links.

Review acquisition

Build a system that earns reviews consistently and responds well to them.

Real authority is the work nobody can fake. Earn it slow, keep it forever.

Why this work compounds

What a real authority profile looks like

  • DR 42 From 18 → 42 in 9 months
  • +47 New referring domains
  • 12 Earned press placements
  • 0 Bought, swapped, or sketchy

Illustrative ranges from typical 6 to 12-month engagements

How it works

From audit to authority, in four phases.

Off-page work runs longer than on-page. Real authority takes months to build, not weeks. Here’s how I structure the work.

01

Week 1

Authority audit

Where you stand: backlink profile, citation accuracy, mentions, and competitor benchmark.

02

Week 2

Target list & strategy

Specific publications, directories, partners, and outreach angles worth pursuing.

03

Months 1-3

Outreach & placement

I run the outreach, write the pitches, and place the work. Real names, real emails.

04

Month 4+

Tracking & iteration

Watch the signals move. Double down on what works, drop what doesn’t.

Who this is for

Honest about who I’m a fit for.

Off-page SEO is slow, expensive when done right, and useless when done wrong. Here’s where I add real value and where you’d be better off with something else.

Good fit

  • Established businesses with something genuinely worth linking to
  • Marketing teams that care about long-term authority, not quick wins
  • Local businesses that need citation cleanup and review systems
  • B2B and SaaS companies with real expertise or POV to share
  • Teams patient enough for a 6 to 12-month horizon

Probably not

  • Anyone looking to buy 100 backlinks fast
  • Brand-new sites with no published content or proof points yet
  • Anyone expecting page-one rankings in 30 days
  • Sites with reputation issues that need a crisis firm first
“Nick is one of the few people I’ve worked with in SEO who clearly cares more about doing it right than doing it fast. The off-page work felt slower than what other agencies pitched, and it’s the work that’s still paying off two years later.”

Common questions

Things people actually want to know.

Will you buy me links or use PBNs?

No. Both got everyone caught the last time it was popular, and Google’s algorithms have only gotten better at finding paid link patterns. Every link I earn for a client comes through real outreach, real contributed content, real partnerships, or real PR. It’s slower, it costs more per link, and it’s the only version that lasts.

How long until I see results?

Off-page SEO is a long game. Most engagements take 3 to 6 months to see measurable movement in rankings and 6 to 12 months for meaningful traffic growth. If someone tells you they can build real authority in 30 days, they’re either lying or about to get your site penalized.

What’s actually included in the work?

An audit of your current backlink profile and citations, a benchmark against your top competitors, a target list of publications and partners worth pursuing, and the actual outreach and placement work. You see what was pitched, what landed, and what each placement is worth.

Is this a project or ongoing engagement?

Most off-page work is ongoing because the relationships and outreach pipelines compound. Most clients start with a defined 3 or 6-month project, then decide whether they want to continue based on what shipped. There’s no retainer required.

How is this different from on-page SEO?

On-page SEO is what you do to your site. Off-page SEO is what you do beyond your site. They reinforce each other (a great on-page foundation makes off-page work pay off faster) and most clients eventually do both. But they’re different work, different timelines, and different skill sets.

Do you guarantee specific links or DA growth?

No. Anyone who guarantees specific placements either has paid relationships (which Google penalizes) or has no idea how editorial decisions actually work. What I guarantee is the work: the outreach, the pitches, the relationships. The placements follow when the work is consistent and the content is worth covering.
